Thanks for everyone for your support and response so far - it is time to kick it up a notch!

See you all again soon!

April and May 2008 Blogging Totals

I was swamped with my new Greener Assets blogging job and didn't get around to April blogging totals, so this month, I'm combining April and May. Blogging has been increasingly good for me, and I'm looking forward to an even brighter future.

Remember, these totals are for TWO months!

Grand Total: $615.02

  • from PageViews (paid by networks): $207.35
  • from Base Pay (paid by networks): $200
  • from Ads: not enough to pay out
  • from Affiliate Programs: $89.67
  • from Blogging Admin Duties: $0
  • from "flat" fees for writing blog posts: $120
  • from donations/other: $0

To Go: $997,753.81

At my current rate, it will take me...er...100+ more years (give or take a few months) to reach the million. Time to boost my earnings! Here are some of the things I plan to do in March:

  • Take advantage of new advertising programs
  • Use StumbleUpon more often
  • Work on lengthening my blogrolls through trading links

What are you doing to increase your blogging earnings?

Cursing on your Blog: Do your Readers Give a Sh!t?

Do you curse on your blog?

Cursing is something highly debated in the world of blogging. There are good and bad things about cursing, and it isn't appropriate for all blogs. Some people would say that it is never appropriate, but really, I think cursing is ok in the following cases:

  • It is appropriate or your topic. If your topic is something edgy, using mild cursing is not always a bad thing.

  • It's part of your blogging persona. Sometimes it isn't really your topic - but rather, it is you. For example, I write a college football blog where I curse if the subject matter demands it.

If you're going to cruse, keep a few things in mind. First of all, don't curse for the sake of cursing. It can be really distracting from what you have to say.

Also, don't curse if it is going to be a turn-off for your readers. You may have to take this on a post-by-post basis. For example, if I'm writing on my college football about a player who passed away, I'm not going to be like "F this" and "F that."

Do you curse? Why or why not? Let me know as a comment below.
